Turbo question
i just happened to get 2 16g turbos , 2 intercoolers, bunch a tubing, polished blow off valve, and a boost controller today. I am curious if i should sell these or can i use them on a ve/vg? or would another car be better to add them to? ive never turboed anything so im new to this. please fill me in.

hmmmm
so you guys think i should sell these? also why is it to small for a maxima. its not like i need to be going mach 3. how much are they worth? one has a bad wastegate (you can use an external wastegate no biggie
. but the rest is perfect. Also i know there is one vve turboed but he didnt get it working right from what i heard.

they might work for twin turbo but good luck fitting all that sh*t under your hood all the 4th and 5th gen guys use t3/t4 and straight t4 turbos and the people ive talked to say a t3/t4 might runout of breate at high rpms and the bigger the turbo the less it has to work witch means less heat which means more boost with out detination but it also means the turbo wont kick in untill about 2500rpms so there will be a little lag. a t3 will spool up very quick but is still to small and will be overworked and will run very hot which isnt good for it or your motor thats why there mainly used on 4 bangers

i have seen that figure before and am not going to disagree with you on it but the guy ive been working with latly has a civic that runs 12.5 with a t3/t4 on a built b16 and he talked to turbonetics about it and they said thats alittle on the small side for a max like i said it can put out the numbers but it would be working the turbo very hard which would produce unecisary heat and shorten the life of the turbo. the turbo kit for the 4th and 5th gen comes with a t4 and the people that desinged it proboly did there homework and desided that would be the best for the job

I agree, but a clipped T3 would probably work just as good. Ray Hall has been doing "their homework" a lot longer than the 4th gen guys and optimal turbo for a 3.0L motor is T3 w/ ~.63 AR according to them. I'm just saying optimal not making more power.
of course a T3/T4 with the right wheel would make more power and come in sooner.

16g is just fine
i know alot of guys with dsm's running around on 16g's.
they seem to like them alot, and they work well on those cars.
i do know also that the first gen 300zx used a single t-3 and was capable of holding around 12psi .
a 16g will be fine for a vg motor running 9:0 commpression as they
could possably run 10+psi. for the ve motors, no more than 5-7psi would be recomended with the 10:1.
for a little boost, a 16g would be a good match, and still keep reliablity to some extent.
just my 2 cents

and you can't really compare turbo output of a 2.0L motor with that of a 3.0...saying "they seem to like them alot, and they work well on those cars." is a broad statement and apples to oranges.
