Location of ECU

where can i find the ecu so that i can pull codes on my max.

the picture given in my haynes must be from the 4th gen because it sure isn't what's in my car. and the chiltons (which covers 89-92)tells me everything but where i can find the stupid thing!

i figured it would be under the panel to the right of my accellerator (like on my altima), but when i pulled the cover off...all i saw were two electrical boxes stacked on top of each other with large plastic coverings and no place to stick a screwdriver in and no lights to illuinate.

thanks!

You found the unit, just the wrong end. Pull the cover in the passenger footwell and you'll see the light and the switch to put the screwdriver in. The other box is the transmission computer.

It's the bigger one on the bottom. I have a VE and the back screws were an SOB to get at.
