Question about offset for 18" rims

I am thinking about buying some new rims for the Max. I am eyeing some 18x8's with a +45 offset. I know that the optimal offset is +35-38 for an 18x8 rim (according to the MaxFAQs). Would this rim fit on the car, clearing the caliper? I could deal with a little bit of rubbing on the front tires during full turning, but don't want to get them if they are massively out of spec. They are SSR integrals, which are hard to come by which I why I am consdering them in the first place. Would some 5mm spacers do the trick (I've heard mixed reviews about them)? Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am a newb when it comes to aftermarket wheels.

Good question i was trying to go a little bigger myself I have 215/50/17 on mine the 2K rims, and my rear tires are pretty close to the strut assembly. Not sure what the offset would have to be? here is a page that i have that should help you

http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/9289/tirecalc.html

Let me know if this will help? Now you know that with that big rim size that you are gonna throw off your odometer and speedomotor also!! Just some things to consider? Let me know if that helps

Re: Re: Question about offset for 18" rims

That website is basically another version of the one I use to calculate how off-spec I am: www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc . So, I know that my speedo and odo won't be off by much, but that site doesn't tell me if the rims will clear the calipers or if they will rub the fenderwall. If anyone else has a site that does offset calculations, I'd much appreciate it.

you are going to need at minimum 5mm spacers. anything larger and you will also need to extend the studs. the offset won't affect your speedo...the tire size you choose can affect that...
