Castrol GTX

I know that some people on here prefer Castrol GTX High Mileage over Valvoline Maxlife. But my question is, what do you run in the winter since there is no 5W30 for the Castrol GTX? Thanks.

nope no need unless your car needs a bit (questionable) TLC because it's burning or leaking oil. otherwise save a few $ and get the regular stuff and a quality filter

As my spreadsheet illustrates in the "Motor Oil - Brand New Oil" worksheet, there is little empirical difference between the two, making the "High Mileage" formulation a waste of money.

Right now, Auto Zone has a "buy 4, get 1 free" promotion on Castrol GTX.

Yes they do make Castrol GTX HIGH MILEAGE in 5w30. It is just hard to find. Much easier to find in 10w30.

Here in S.E. Michigan area, Meijer just had regular Castrol GTX 5w30 and 10w30 on sale for $1.29 a quart! I thought that was a great price, bought a case (12) of 5w30. Think I'll try that through the summer.

Take Care....

nope.. it was raining, but I was already up to about 4500 miles... plus I was about 1.5 qts low when I changed it.. probably wouldn't give very good results. damn worn valve stem seals.
car smokes for about 15 sec on startup if I get on the gas... mostly where the oil is going between changes.
