Front Strut tower bar

i was thinking of buying a front strut bar for my 93 max. does anyone know if its worth it? is there noticable difference in handling or even slight differences to anything? any increased horsepower?

so yeah, if it doesnt really do anything special, im not going to waste money.

thanx for the help everyone.

Re: Front Strut tower bar

its great. one of the best, easiest suspension mods. stiffens the front up quite well. definitly do it.

do ya got the VE or VG? cause remember there's different bars for each.....

i talked to a friend about this and for over 45 mins, we were actually talking about two different things. i was talking about the strut bar that goes on top of the strut towers inside the engine compartment and he was talking about the front sway bar, which goes under the car.

he said that his strut bar didnt do anything noticable at all but the sway bar did wonders.
so just to be sure we're talking about the same thing, we're all talking about the front strut tower bar right, the one that goes inside the engine compartment ontop of the two strut towers and not the sway bar which goes under the car.

just wanted to make this clear because from what my friend said, "did pretty much nothing" to what you guys are saying, "big difference in handling" is quite a big difference.

so yeah, thanx for your comments...ill take them into consideration.

PS. i have a sohc and yes i know there are two differnt bars. but thanx for watching out! much oblige.

The front strut bar does make a difference, you can definitely feel the difference. I wouldn't advise anyone to throw money into anything expensive when they can be had on e-bay for like $16 shipped. Sway bars definitely make a bigger difference than strut bars. Get the strut bar from ebay, save up for the sway bars and make sure you get them, front and rear. With some nice tires front strut bars and both sway bars, you'll have a well handling car with stock height. With some lowering springs and properly matched struts you'll have a better handling car, but obvious to most people that it's lowered. Then after that you can move onto the warpspeed chassis braces.

yea its a good idea to torque it, i forgot what the tq setting was, i used the factory tq specs in the chiltons manual to do the 3 tower nuts and i forgot what i did the ends of the bar with..

yes it makes a difference, right after i put it on i loved whipping around corners; but now ive had it on for so long the car feels "eh" in handling again

it makes a differance.. i thought that when i put it on that i didnt have any benifit and i lost money, after a few turns i saw the higher the speed the less it rolls in the corner, and if you look carefully you actuallly see the max just stay stiffand straight as you inter a corner.. now its the rear i have to work on..

Re: Front Strut tower bar

I've heard with the tower bar there isn't a noticeable difference but they are quite impressive when you open the HOOD. The sway bar is the way to go for a noticeable difference.

yeah don't worry, i don't need therapy because of you.

Sure, you're more than entitled to your opinion. However, before you go about pubically sharing your opinions with others, make sure they are based upon facts, and just common sense. Reading someone saying that a strut tower bar is more of an ornament than a handling improvement immediately shows what your opinions are based on, stupidity. Carry on sir.

word.. does it help in handling, yes. its a fact. is it a major mod. no , but every little helps, i loved mines.. but when people say its just for looks they are wrong.. its the cheapest mod and bang for the buck.. i would not like to have this off my max when i am cornering.. anything o help the maxima feel better and get more power and its not just for show..
