Pop Charger Install - Newbie question from not so newbie

i'm embarassed to ask this but:

does the ecu have to be reseted after i install my maf bracket adaptor and k&n cone?

i've advised other members to reset their ecu after installing an intake but is it really necessary?

just curious because it's goin' in tomorrow morning....

thanx for any insight...

When I put in my intake, I drove it before and after I reset the ECU, and it did make a difference. I think the majority of it was from the LAST time I reset the ECU, which was in the winter and I couldn't drive it hard, when I put in the intake, it was a nice day and I really got on it to set it up for speed

It's always a good idea to reset the ecu after every modification. Before you go ahead and reset it, you should first check for any stored error codes.

nismodrew..all you have to do is disconnect the battery, the loss of a current supply will erase all of the store info the ecu has.

Also, when you reconnect the battery, it's a good idea to aid the ecu in the 'relearning' process. The FSM states that during the period of 'relearning' the car could run rough and so on. After you reconnect the batter, just let it warm up to operating temp, slowly raise the rpm up to 3000 and slowly bring it back down. Do that a couple of times, then take it out for a gentle drive. Going slowly but constantly up to 60, then slowlying down slowly to 0.
