AC not working

Just tried out my AC this weekend on a hot day and no cold air is coiming out at all, it's the same temp as the vent. Is there any way to tell if it just needs to be recharged or if it is something more serious? Or should I just bring it to the shop and have them look at it? Thanks.

I think you should be able to check the reciever/dryer. It should have a "glass eye" that you should be able to see coolant flowing past while you have it on. I cant remember where it is behind the grill, maybe near the battery on a VG.

I don't think there is any compressor click, it seems to be completely normal except for the lack of cold air. Does anyone know anything more about this glass eye?

It's a '93 so I'm not sure if it is R-12 or R-134a.

R-134a
compressor is supposed to click.
pretty much points to that you have no freon...AKA leak in system.
fix the leak and recharge.

I know this is pretty much a dead thread and this is probably a stupid question, but what does the clicking compressor sound like and where would I hear it if it is? Thanks.

And also, how would I go about finding the leak and fixing it?
