Ok, its time for my oil change on my SE.
Here are a few questions I have.
Which oil filter should I be using? I bought a gray
OEM one because I think the Nissan OEM's are the best.
What type of oil should I be using? What weight/grade?
Also, should I be using synthetic or normal?
Any idea on how much oil I need?
Thanks a lot guys!

Filter=oem
weight=consult the FACTORY OWNER'S MANUAL
Oil type=Search yields much more info than any 10 people could ever post on this thread.

Yak, I use a simple FRAM PH-3682 filter and usually Pennzoil or Valvoline non-synthetic 5W-30 (you might want to use 10W-30 for added protection). I'm sure many will post replies in disagreement, saying that you need to use Redline this, or OEM that, but to me the most important thing is making SURE that oil is changed EVERY 3,000 miles. I can't justify spending $3 or $4 on a quart of synthetic oil or almost $10 on a Nissan filter, just make sure you use a brand that you've heard of before and do the deed every 3,000. I've done this with all of my cars and have encountered no problems. You said you have an SE but I don't know what year. If it's a 92-94, then it's the same as me and should require exactly 4.0 quarts with a filter change as well. If it's an 89-91, then I don't know. You'll need to find out from someone with a VG(single cam) motor. Maybe it's the same, but I'm not sure.

I have a 1993 SE with 72,000 miles and I run Castrol Syntec Blend 5W-30 with a Mobil 1 oil filter.

I decided on the Mobil filter after I flushed several with dye and took them apart with a metal bandsaw and inspected them. The Mobil had the best balance of good filter material and decent flow of the Fram, Bosch, and AC-Delcos I looked at. As always, YMMV.
