anybody interested in "test pipes?"

I think I will be getting some flanges and making myself one. I may make a batch of them for resale.

Would you guys be interested, and if so, at what price?

It's not likely at all that I will make them for that. The parts alone will be half that...then add in the time spent to pack and ship...not really worth it. No offense intended, just being honest.

You may be able to find somebody locally to do them for that though.

yeah. I will probably get them. I want to get a feel of whether it would be worth making more, and if so...how many I should order.

They seem to be making money off shipping them though. The flange price isn't too bad, but shipping will add another 50% to the cost. Then figuring in the pipe for a little more, that drives it up a bit more.

I'm not trying to be a **** about the price, but parts and time arent free. People tend to look at a part and say "it's nothing but a straight piece of pipe with 3 flanges on it...shouldn't be more than $10." But they don't factor in the price of parts, time, welding, shipping, packing and other stuff.

I'd be the same, but I make stuff for a living, and I see how expensive production is. The company I work for charges over $50/hr for labor time...and that's pretty cheap in today's market.

they are infamous for doing that...thats why I hate ordering form them sometimes. but they have a good selection of small stuff for DIY fabrication jobs.

I remember WSP and testpipe.com use to have them for around $20. What happened to those deals?

Mass production is cheaper than making small batches. If you can get them for $20 there and you want one, that's a fair price...but shipping will likely be about $7 on them. Still not bad.

but the post above said they could only find pipes for hondas.

If they have them for that price for the Maxima, let me know...maybe I won't make any.

And you guys wonder why there is such a low selection of performance parts for the third gens. Engloid knows his **** and would produce a high quality product. Go have fun on E-bay.

what are you saying us third geners are cheap i will admit i am very cheap but i made a test pipe for my max about 2 months ago when my cat got cloged and i got 18" of 2.5" pipe and 2 weld on flages from a local muffler shop and they only charged me 5 dollars for the parts and it took about 30 min of time to make it so i would say 20 is a fair price

Shops here wouldn't even sell the flanges. Actually most told me that they didn't even have them...haha

anyway...if you think $20 is a fair price, why don't you make us some? or have I called your bluff?

A few of us tried to get some test pipes made locally and couldn't get the flanges, so I know what you mean there.

you can probably do as well as what you'd buy from these other places. It's not like exhaust shops ever have professional welders...they just have guys that "can weld." I always say it's like drawing. Anybody can draw, but not everybody even has the ability to ever become a professional artist.

and people with the ability to become a skilled welder don't work at exhaust shops.

really though...if a shop sold you that stuff for $5, they were not doing it to make a profit. They did you a favor. This is not the price that you should base the part's worth or "fair price" on, as most people don't have the parts available at that price.

I seriously doubt it. matter of fact a lot of people have to heat up their cat by hard driving to get it to pass.
