VG timing marks.

I have a 1992 VG30, and I noticed that my crank pulley has 7 timing marks. The manual that I have shows what looks like 6 timing marks, and shows the timing for them (0,10,20). I'm not sure which mark to use to set the timing properly. Also, what kind of advance are people running using regular gas? I know tha the spec calls for 15 degrees, but I know that if you bup it up a bit, you'll get more power and economy. Any help is appreciated.

Use the farthest left mark. That mark is number one cylinder.

Maybe I didn't make it clear. . . when I have the timing light on the marks, the fourth mark from the left is in line with the mark on the timing belt cover. Because my pulley has 7 marks and my manual only shows six, I don't know if my fourth mark is 15 degrees or 20 degrees.

I believe TDC is the orange/red mark. You might have to take the wheel and splash shield off to see it. Also before you adjust the timing, you have to get the car into base timing mode. I know the 92-94se's you have to unplug the throttle posistion sensor and rev the engine 3 times over 3000rpm to lock in the timing. I'm not sure if you unplug the TPS or IAC in the VG though. If you are running 91+ octane bump the timing to 19*BTDC.
