If you rev-match, there is not much harm to your trans. Sure there is extra wear that you would avoid just using the brakes, but I don't do it arbitrarily.

like - kinda how the power/comfort switch is...except down shifting. see what i'm sayin? nothing to make my car BOOOOUNCE forward. (just a tiny bit) but it also adds to the exhaust sound.
