For those who have done or planning to do a 5spd conversion is it worth it???

Well i am in a pinch whether or not to put a 5spd in my maxima. I mean its not really cost effective. I am really leaning towards buying a ve 5spd but i cannot get any money from the sale of my maxima.

There are some options but i really dont like it.

1- There is a VG 5spd for sale as a donor parts max. It has leather seats and new tokicos struts and eibach springs. The guy is wants 700 bucks for the whole 91 se vg maxima, it is fully loaded with powered everything, and has 104k on the tranny and engine. It has been in a front end collision, not to bad, but it still runs. If i was to purchase this maxima, how ....

a- hard is it to swap the tranny and engine into my vg, since its a vg tranny and vg engine.
b- much am i looking at if i have a shop install the piece vs. a group of friends.
C- is it better to keep my original engine in my max or put the newer one in.
d- as for the title, what would i need to do? since the vin number will be different on the engine than what is listed on the registration.

2- I can try and sell my vg auto, and purchase a VE 5spd but the one i am looking at right now is 1500 bucks and 180k on it.

3- Just shut up and stay with my maxima as it is and stop putting money into it.

I really want a 5spd but i dont want to be limited to 160 sohc engine. Sadly i love my current maxima but its just pointless to keep modding her when i am wanting anothe maxima. I just dont know what to do

For those who have vg 5spd how does it compare to the vg auto. As well as those with vg 5sp vs ve 5spd. I have heard that the vg 5spd and the ve 5spd trannys can be interchanged is this correct?

Too bad that the search is down, i could have easly found my answers to my questions.

What do you think is the most fisible idea.? 5spd swap my vg to give me the manual capabilities, or just fore-go that and get a ve since the price would just be the same if i sold my maxima plus another 1500 .

its late and i am very tired. I know i am not very coherrent. sorry and i appologize.

Just that i cant stop thinking about SHIFT_VE

Any kind of feedback except flaming.

bascially for those who did the vg 5spd swap was it worth it or is it better to get the ve?

Buy that guy's vg 5spd immediately!!! $700 is a great deal considering you get all the 5spd conversion parts + Eibachs. I don't remember if you emailed me or not but, you can get ahold of me at fred.brown@amd.com if you want to go into the swap in more detail. If you are doing the swap yourself then you shouldn't really spend more than $1k total unless there is some major damage to the tranny. If you pay a shop to do it, shops might charge as much as $1k for the work. So, basically $1k or less if you do it yourself or almost $2k total to pay a shop (parts + labor). It really isn't that hard to do yourself but, it pays to know someone with hydraulic lifts and air tools! Just make sure to replace the clutch master/slave cylinder at the same time and get a new clutch.

As far as the difference, it's like night and day. I put in a full WSP exhaust at the same time and it's amazing how much faster it is compared to when my car was stock and auto. The low-end is fun as hell. Though, 5spd has really made me realize how much the VG's high-end sucks! I say do the swap if you love your Maxima enough (I love mine). I kind of decided to do the swap, and my current turbo project because it would be hard for me to sell my Maxima (195k, beat to sh*t!); plus I love it too much.

Yes, the VG and VE 5spds can be interchanged.
