Question - Neon Lights

1. Okay, I got me a 93' GXE exactly a week ago,.....I know nothing about cars, not even how to change oil, but I want to get into them some,.....Where is the oil plug,.....I searched uner thatc ar for an hour two days ago looking for the plug, 'til i finally gave up.

2.Okay now on to my real question,...I have installed some neon on the exterior of the car,.....the cyber eyes (windshield washer neon lights) anyways, according to the directions, "the red electrical wire is supposed ot be run to switched 12 volts, or to the driving light switch." It says, "if you cannot find switched 12 vdc or light switch consult car dealer" I am trying to aviod consulting the car dealer,.....can anyone help me know what to run this red wire to? Is it the car battery? what is it, keep in mind, I know nothing about cars,....thanks for your help! Also where-ever i run this red wire,....may i run more then one red wire to the same place?

3. One last question,.....my headlights both work when I have them on bright,....but on dim one light doesn't work,....I am wondering if anyone has an answer to this problem and can tell me how to fix it? Thanks!

you can tap into the conering bulb's wires to power those LEDs. and as for your headlights, the one that won't light on low beam have burned out. our car uses 9004 bulbs that contains 2 filaments, one for high and one for low beams. the low beam filament crapped out on you. replace.

I already put new 9004 blue lights in and still the new one doesn't work, I am thinking their may be some faulty wires or a fuse of some kind is out? Is this at all possible?

if thats the case it is probably the wire for the low beam that has a break in it or the socket itself is bad.

Get a volt meter and measure the prongs on the socket. There are 3 prongs...1 ground and a wire for high and low beams. check the wires for voltage and inspect them for any melted plastic or broken wire.

as long as those blue bulbs are 45/65 watts you're ok.
if they're something like 80/100 watts...you might have melted the wires

The wire is not melted and I already threw the box away. I know that I didn't melt the wire cause, I have new lights in, the reason I put new lights in is because the car's original lights didn't seem to be working on low beam on one of the sides. I thought maybe it was some kind of burn out in the lights so I bought new ones, which were specified by an autozone tech. for my car. Is there some kind of fuse connection to these lights that could have possible burned out? If so where can it be found?

WHY DON'T YOU CHECK THE FUSE LOCATED NEAR THE DIVERS SIDE FRONT FENDER? If you are that clueless and want to get it fixed....then take your car to the dealer and get it fixed.

Ok, before this thread gets out of hand, let me make a couple of suggestions/answers based on your original questions:

1. Okay, I got me a 93' GXE exactly a week ago,.....I know nothing about cars, not even how to change oil, but I want to get into them some,.....Where is the oil plug,.....I searched uner thatc ar for an hour two days ago looking for the plug, 'til i finally gave up.
ANSWER - short answer is on the oil pan (don't laugh... I'm just being real). At the top of this forum is a link that one of the mods made which will take you to a reference for a Chilton's manual. That'd be your best source for that answer, and a segway into your second question...

ANSWER - I ran my red wire to the same wire that shows 12v when the parking light comes on. But it really depends on HOW you want them to come on. Some people use them to similate turn signals, others (like me) use them to come on with parking lights or fog lights. You will DEFINITELY need a multimeter or test light to check that out. Which segways me into your last question...

3. One last question,.....my headlights both work when I have them on bright,....but on dim one light doesn't work,....I am wondering if anyone has an answer to this problem and can tell me how to fix it?
ANSWER - If you put in 2 bulbs and have the same problem, that would indicate that it wasn't the bulb to begin with. It's highly unlikely that you'd get 2 bulbs with the same filament burnt out. I'd take that same multimeter I mentioned in my other answer, put one end to ground, and the other end to one of the three wires coming from the suspect headlight plug. Turn on your lights. If that wire shows 12v, move to the next wire. Keep in mind, though, one of the three wires is the ground wire for that light socket. I think it's black, if I'm not mistaken. Now if all three wires show nothing, turn on your bright lights and test again. One wire SHOULD show 12v. From there, you can pretty much tell which wire is bad. Test it from the plug end and approx. 1-3 inches past the plug, on the wire side.

And if you REALLY need help with this, or further instruction, hit me up on PM and I'll explain it better. Heck, I might even have the wiring colors, if you're nice...

okay, to bring this post back to life, there are 3 wires, a red-blue wire, a red-green wire, and a black wire which I'd say is the grounding wire. If anyone knows for sure, just tell me if which of the 2 red wires go to if the red-blue is high beam light or low beam light and the same for the red-green wire. That being answered I am sure I can fix it all myself. Again, thanks for your tiem and consideration of my lack of automotive knowledge.

Ok, first of all, I want you to FULLY understand that what I'm about to say is NOT meant to be said in a bad way. Nor am I trying to be rude or to flame you.

Now, with that being said... might I SUGGEST that you just get a multimeter or test light, get under the hood, and test those wires for yourself! Trust me, it's not rocket science. Don't get me wrong, we as fellow enthusiasts WANT to help you. But at the same time, we want to help you help yourself (if that makes any sense).

Now, I'll be honest with you and say that I DO know which wire is high beam and which is low beam. But I'm not going to spoon-feed you the answer. And that's not because I'm trying to be mean, rude, or an @$$hole. It's just that I kinda-sorta wanted you to get in there, get your hands dirty, and feel the satisfaction that I'm sure all of us felt when we said, "Wow! Now I know how to do that and I don't have to ask anyone."

I'm sure after reading this, you'll probably hate me... and that's cool. I can live with that. No sleep lost here. But what I CAN'T live with is the thought that someone that obviously has enough technical savvy to turn on a computer, read e-mail, and read posts in a newsgroup can't test a wire.

We can put you on the road, bro (and you're actually on there, cause you at least know which wires you're looking at), but what will you have gained by having us carry you down that road??

Now, as for your question about the aux lights.... don't buy Nokya!
