What Will Help my Low end???

I have an Auto VE and my lowend is no good. I was wondering what mods would help this out even a little bit?? I have advanced timing and I was wondering if it is advanced too much I would be loosing low end or high end??? Because its so bad, haha. SO if it is advanced too much do i loose it low, high, or middle, or all of the above?? sorry if its just confusing im just trying to get my 60's better. thanks for the help all!!

well if its too high you will loose all around because the engine will knock and the computer will retard the timing anyway.

but general rule is that you loose a little top end when you advance the timing high...gain a little low end loose a little top end.

I gotta get to the track, but maybe after I fix the VTC's. Although the UDP really helped...

Wanna get better low end?

1. My ASP UDP shaved one tenth in the 60'. That's alot!
2. Remove AC belt for track
3. CAI helps noticably when your VE is warm. You'll probably like this the best for street use.
4. ProTorque high stall torque converter if you wanna spend $395 and the other $1000 for installation.
5. Bump your timing 3-5 degrees. That made a noticable difference and does not decrease your top end. My traps speeds got better along with my 60'.

The UDP only helped the 60' and the trap speeds stayed the same.

Oh yeah, get a Ypipe and that will help low end along with everything else. Just get your car breathing better without getting a straight thru muffler.

I'm just trying to help a fellow VE Auto brother out. I'm all for making a VE Auto faster... so fast it will spank every modded VE 5spd in the SoCal area with over 250K miles. lol jk

SWEET JESUS!!! who quoted you a $1000 for that?? shouldn't be more than $500+/-, $1000 is total rebuild money!

Sorry, that's slight exaggeration. I just meant to say a crap load in labor for a normal shop to charge $60/hr on it. I would personally find a way to install it myself in my garage. WOuldn't that be sweet, a VE AUTO with 300-800 higher stall. You realize that I won't have to wait to get in the power band at 3K. I will step on the gas and instantly rev to 2800 and smoke my tires. Man, now I'm just dreaming.

Jeez.. it can't be THAT bad!!!
I installed my Fidanza flywheel in a hair over 4 hours yesterday.. that included taking a 20 min break for lunch and pulling the tranny back out twice because one of the alignment pins got FUBARd..

I know the autos are heavier, but that's why you rent a tranny jack.

seriously though, with the awesome times your putting out and with the frequency that you hit the track this would probably be a VERY worthwhile mod for you...I say GO FOR IT!! come back to NC and maybe catch some mid/low 14s

I might do it one day. In Vegas, I am only able to get 15.50's. In SoCal, I'm only able to get 15.10's. And in NC, 14.80's baby! I hate Vegas, my car is slow.

I can easily see my 60' time going from 2.29 to 2.09 with just a TC. That will probably end up shaving 2/3 tenths off the 1/4 mile. Not bad,.. but traction will be a problem.

LOL... no it's not true. Follow the steps in the FSM or Chilton's and you'll be fine. You'll have to lock your car in base timing mode first by following certain steps. Then tap into the #1 cylinder. The most accurate way to do that is to plug a spark plug wire into the #1 plug, then connect the other end to the coil pack. Then tap into the signal going through the plug wire.

I just left the #1 coil plugged in and I got a signal that way.

Your car would be sweet with a TC and throw some slicks on for the track

No worrying about you know who...

You want a better low end? Add a Rootes blower. That'll give your low end a kick in the pants! Should only cost a couple grand and give you gobs of low end torque and about 70 more horse.
