VG Auto - Advance Timing - Yay or Ney?
hey ppl,
my car is going in for some repairs(right and left axels & timing belt/tensioner) and i was thinking of getting my mechanic to bump the timing up a little to see if i can squeeze some more power outta my vg auto.
in regards to advancing the timing:
**** what degrees to set it at?
** what to expect performance wise?
*** will it cause the engine to misfire or run lean?
** any commonly associated problems with advanced timing?

90gxe here. I told my mechanic to do it one degree to 16 degrees. I chose this at the advice of MAXO/D (who now has a turbo 3rd gen). Previously he had his at 17 degrees IIRC and he had new cams and other headwork on his VG...
Don't expect any dramatic difference.. if anything I feel more pull in a slightly broader range of RPMs than I did before. As long as you do 1 or 2 degrees you shouldn't see any probs.
