you of all people should know that:

1. this has been done...countless times..

2. the search button exists for that very purpose..

now search before you get spanked...too much info to spill out on one page...your best bet is to sift and read through them all.
good luck.

VG33 in a Maxima, huh?! I didn't think the bolt pattern was the same for the tranny swap. Good luck on that one!! Take plenty of pics if you can...

the general jist is that it CAN be done on just about any car... its just the level of difficulty that varies from car to car

kaleb, mykizism, dmontzsta, (and me in about a month) are a few people you can talk to who've swapped 3rd gens

What is it about that statement that doesn't say Pathfinder motor swap and 5-speed conversion on a 91 Max to you?

It's a 92 max Matthel, and Geoff, I hope you're wrong about the tranny- all the research I've done says it'll all bolt up.

I see what Chris is saying, but you know what now that I read it AGAIN, you're right...it does look like they are doing the 3.3 swap into a Max. Nice!

Is this the VG33E or VG30E swap? The pathfinder is supposed to have a better IM however I don't see how. I still makes the same power as the VG in teh Z31 and 3rd gen, however the torque is about the same as the 3rd gens too. VG33 would own though

It's the vg33e Ari. We're using the vg30e intake manifold, keeping the vg33e heads and adding the Euro cams. It will be fun when its done.

What is the difference in the engines really besides the fact that it's 3.3L? I'm thinking about doing something similar (What I'm planning I actually need 2 different engines, 3 will make it easier) and I'm trying to do a little bit of research before I start seriously thinking about it

hi guys i have a 1990 gxe and i had a tranny problem , i was driving down the street all fine one sec ,came to a stop sign and went to step on the gas , the motor was running but the car wasnt realy moving. made it home fine , thanks for asking , didnt move the car for two days , went to try to take the car to aamco but were closed , funny thing this was to weeks ago and the tranny is fine no problems since that day anyone had this happen to them .
also about this tranny swap is it worth it to pick up a pathfinder tranny for my car ,would it fit, or should i just pick up one from my car and swap that one ......thanks any help would be fine ....i would use the search but reading from up front knowhow for me is better...thanks again

Taegost- I'll know for sure when it all goes in, but the only differences that I can think of are the displacement, the heads (the 33e heads are a bit more open), the intake manifold (though our vg30e manifold fits on), the oil filter placement (Which can be switched back to orig.) and the oil pan. It seems like a pretty simple swap as far as engine swaps go.

sndmaxx- I'm using a 96 pathfinder engine- not the transmission. The pathfinder is RWD or 4WD- so it has a different transmission and different engine positioning. You'd be best off using one from an 89-94 GXE.

For the time and effort it takes you to tell a person to "use the search button", you could of already answered their question.
