When I got my muffler inspection the mechanic notice that one of these bolts (circled in the picture) was broke, totally gone and there's a hole there. Now I've been driving around with this broken bolt (or broken off bolt) for about 6 months now and my exhaust system does make a rattling sound. I'v been under the impression that these were manifold studs but after looking at this picture I'm not sure. Are the manifold studs the six above, if so what are these bolts called and would it be a DIY job to change these?

That's just a bolt off the bottom of your manifold that hooks onto the Y-Pipe. ALOT easier than the other Stud on the manifold that hook onto the block. It's just as simple as crawling under the car with a new bolt and putting it in. You may or may not have to drop the Y-pipe to do it.

Is it possible...

Is it possible for that broken bolt to have broke and fallen down my downpipe?? I'm getting this rattling sound during accelertaion but it goes away at normal highway speeds? It sounds like two pieces of metal clattering together. Either the bolt has broken off and pipe end is hitting each other or the bolt fell into the downpipe and is rattling inside. What do you think?

It's just the to pieces aren't held togeather as tight with one missing bolt so there's some play which is making the sound. To have it fall down into your Y-Pipe would actually be pretty close to impossible because it's still bolted down so there's no openings big enough for it to fall down.
