VG33E into a 92 Max
man
not as easy as we thought. "supposely" its suppose to drop into the Maxima with the Maxima motor mounts. so far we found out gotta swap the water pump, oil pump, oil pickup tube and pan, and other parts from the VG30E onto the VG33E block. then the diameter of the crank is different so dunno wut to do about the crank pulley....has anyone actually done a VG33E into a 3rd gen Max?

I noticed a couple of things looking at a neighbors VG33E too. The water pump was different in size and I know the oil pan is different (RWD vs FWD) so the pick up will be different as well. I didn't know the crank has a different diameter. During the "swap" you should use the VG30 intake manifold + sensors to attempt to simplify it. To date there hasn't been anyone that posted a VG33 swap into a maxima. However it has been done to a Z31 though.

ok checked out some specs and it appears you can use the VG30E crank in the VG33E block. so we started to pull the crank out.
my worries or questions are....would the trans bolt up to the VG33 and would the VG30 motor mounts work.
heres what i know so far
using VG30 Oil pan, VG30 oil pump and pickup tube, VG30 water pump, VG30 intake and exhaust manifolds....will find out soon if there is anything else

it looks like a Maxima manual trans should bolt up to the VG33 block. swapped the VG30 crank over to the VG33 block and its cool, ordered all the bearings and once they come in should be able to continue and complete this project...
im not sure how much power a stock VG33 puts out, what do you guys think?
itll be a VG33E motor with Nismo cams and a manual trans.

Well, the vg33e puts out 170 hp and 200 lbs/ft of torque, but using my IM and the Nismo cams, which have a .392" lift and 264 degree duration, there's no way of telling. I think Ari predicted that the vg30e IM would help the low end, and with the cams to help the high end, it should have some decent power. I hope to take it to the dyno once its broken in, though, to know for certain.
