5 speed transmission replacement

Anybody know a good source for replacement manual transmissions? My 1993 Maxima SE's transmission case is cracked and bearings have gone bad. I'm looking at $1719+tx for a rebuild from Advance Auto, or $2047+tx best price for a new one from my local Nissan rapist - er, dealer. I bought a junkyard tranny for $400 at my local junkyard, but it's no good. I'm ok with a junkyard part, but I'm a little gunshy about losing another $230 for labor. (I'm not all that mechanically inclined, & know my limits!) I love my car and the guy at the shop hasn't been able to come up with a solution yet. Max has been in the shop for 3 weeks tomorrow. HELP!!!
