hood struts

i know this topic have been beaten to death but i finally got my hands on some new hood struts. so far the old struts caused a bump on my head and a broken volt meter

How do you remove the adapter plate on the top of each strut? pretty sure i have to reuse the old plate unless there are other struts with the plates on them already.

thanks in advance for any help

perhaps i worded my question incorrectly...

i've taken the struts completely out of the car. yet the hood plates is still attached to the struts. how do you take the plate off of the struts?

sorry for sounding repetitive

you get a drill and clamp the bracket in a vice, then drill the center out of the rivets until the bracket comes off. you'll also have to enlarge the hole a small bit for the new brackets to fit- if you got the same brand I used on Lophix's car and mine..

Where did you find the struts? I've been looking all over.
