I just bought a 1993 SE 5spd and my friend's parents loved my car so they bought a 1996 GXE 5sp

I haven't had the chance to race him yet but tonight it's going down, any ideas of the outcome, like how bad is he going to beat me??

Ya I kinda figured that

But what else could come in to play, I know that he has the 15 lbs more torque on his side, and the lighter body.

I think it'll mostly come down to who gets the best start

I always thought that 3rd. gens were lighter than 4th gens.
4th gens just look bigger and bulkier while 3rd gens looks neat and relatively compact.
Is the 4th gen really lighter than 3rd.?

Yeah the 4th gen is 1-2 hundred pounds lighter

due to a lighter engine mostly, I think that if you took the engines out of both cars the 4th gen would be heavier but that VQ is really a great improvement over the VE.

I raced a 4-gen 5-sp, 1995 model too. Him stock w/ 17's and suspension. Me Y, RT cat and 15" stockers and crap clutch.

So we raced from a roll. He would get the intial punch but then I would catch up and start to pass in 3rd gear. Since it was a street, we ran out of room and were going about 75mph.

VEs w/ intake and exhaust mods really get good in the mid and top end while a stock vq runs out of breath at 5k or so. VTC doing it's thing ya know?
