Wont Start
Wont Start
A friend and I just got done with a complete rebuild of the ve30de. The first time we got it back in the car it fired up just fine but no low end and very little high end power. That led us to the conclusion that the time chain which is very hard to set on these engines without the TSB was off by one chain link on the front head. We took the engine back out and got the timing set completely correct and put it back in. Now it wont start at all. So far we have checked every connector on the main wiring harness and all is hooked up correctly. We have checked fuel and that is correct also, though we are not sure if the fuel lines have air in them and we cant find the fuel bleeder screw. (if one exists) We have checked all sparks and we are good to go as far as that goes. We are about to check compression in all the cylinders. If anyone has a clue of why this might not work I would appreciate it.
If anyone has any questions on the rebuild steps of anything in this engine I would be happy to help.

sounds strange... if the engine fired up, and all you did was adjust the timing chain, then it would suggest that the engine itself is fine, and the problem has occured somewhere in the electrical or fuel systems. I'm sure this is a stupid question, but was the battery disconnected before the removal the second time? there's a lot in there that could short out.. Either that, or like you're thinking, an air lock in the fuel system. Can just bleed that by removing the line close to the engine, and having someone wind the engine over while holding the hose into a jar..
But yeah, if you've just done a rebuild, then you probably already done what i just said.. just keen to try and help a fellow VE owner
Hope you get it sorted!
