Q: about timing
Q: about timing
Is this what stock timing should look like. (It's a pic from Craig's page on advancing timing. Thanks Craig) Because My timing has a huge gap above the nut. ( pink circle area) Which would mean that my timing is very retarded. Is this correct? If so this might be the reason for all my hesitation and stalling problems. Sorry I don't have a timing gun.

Re: Q: about timing
It's hard to tell in that photo, but that looks to be about 20 degrees. In MY experience, 5 degrees advanced has about a 1mm gap in that circle you drew. I think stock timing has about an 1/8" gap. But this is not the way to gauge this... you really need to get a timing light. Just hook it to your #1 cylinder and hope it gets a signal. That is the easiest way to get an idea of what your timing is set at.
The more accurate way is to remove the #1 coil pack and connect it to the spark plug with a plug wire and then clamp onto that wire. Hope this helps.
OH yeah.... this is a better photo of what 20 degrees looks like. Thanks Craig!
