Can you tell more please. I am curious about why pvc is bad. I personally would use sheet metal if I were doing it.

i'm guessing the PVC will break down from the heat of the engine. ever seen a pvc pipe that's left in the sun for a long long time? it develope these cracks and is rather brittle.

pieces of pvc going into the intake can get ugly.

sheet metal is what the whole car is basicaly made of. that is what is used for "professional intakes".

okeedokee...i'd prefer to use pvc personally but i'd be very intrigued to see a custom sheet metal intake.

Your talking about 2 different kinds of intakes. Yes sheet metal intakes are profesional but that is an intake that connects the carb to the heads (or on our car would be called an intake manifold) the intake that this guy is talking about on our car is from the MAF sensor to the fenderwell. No need to use sheet metal because you would have to roll it up...that is why people use steel tubing (or round aluminum) when making correct CAIs for the maxima.

Do not use a PVC intake because it creates dangerous fumes that can harm your car.

Stainless steel is what "professional" intakes are made out of...

PVC has chemicals that will break down due to the heat...

my rule of thumb is don't be cheap and if it is cheap make sure it's done right...
