first of all, not wise.

second of all, isnt that a lot of labor to swap springs back and forth for shows.

my advice, do it right or dont do it at all. your max is a daily driver right? dont put the utility of the car at risk.

I put my springs on in 20 minutes once I realized how stupid I was.

Disconnect the torsion bar (21mm Socket) the whole assemply drops down. I didn;t even use compressors, instead I used a second jack to compress the spring enough to the get the bolt and spacer on. After that, I dropped the second and first jacks and used the cars weight as a natural compressor to put the torsion bar back on for those new racing springs.

ummmmmmmmmm, no. the "way" to do it is to compress the spring with a spring compressor, put the assembly together and bolt it up. that doesnt mean that what he did isnt an acceptable method without the proper tools, just not the "best" way.

before you cut up springs, why not try to clamp them down. its like 6 bucks for a set for each wheel, it takes a turn off yor spring and if you dont like it, you just take it off, not have to replace a set of springs

I would have done it using compressors, except these springs were far to sturdy for them and kept exploding out of the little lip thing. Almost took my face off once.

Easier, more simplisitic way for sure. I ended up needing an impact wrench, and a new socket set. But hey, aslong as you get em on... WHatever works.

Kennedy, i think i just read your post wrong, i get what you were sayin now. when i put my sprints on, i didnt have a compressor either i used to straps and tightened the straps to the springs before i took it all apart. i stood on the new spring and tightened it up wit the straps when i put everything back together.

i replied ti your pm, but they are actual spring clamps, usually in the suspension/exhaust/air tool section of autozone. its used to lowersprings or extend springs, depending on how you use it.

I have sprint springs and they say that it lowers the car 1.8" but when i measured my car to Bijan's stock max it was about 2.25". I think that is low enough. I occasionally bottom out on speed bumps and driveways, but with the right angle I hardly ever bottom out.

you can cut springs, you just have to know what you are doing. before you cut the spring you have to get the spot where you are going to cut it hot enough to bend. once you get it to where you can bend it you have to bend it to where it will seat the strut where the little lip thing is. if you take you spring off and look at it you'll see how there is a bent spot that seat perfectly on a spot on the strut. bend the spring to fit in that spot correctly and you shouldn't have very bad camber problems. be sure to not take too much of the coils off. my friend wanted a 1 to 1.5 inch drop. they measured the coils and cut two coils off.... they ended up with a 5 inch drop on a 86 Corolla GT-S. there is a book for chassis engineering that shows how to cut springs. i think borders has it.

I thought I was crazy when I measured my sprints and saw an almost 2.5 inch drop. Guess I wasn't...
