Getting a maxima Need as much help as possible!!!

hello i might be getting a 92 maxima gxe with 110,000 miles. Has new timing belt, and all this other stuff. Can anyone give me things to look for/hear/ or anything when I see and test drive the car. Kinda a buyers guide. I am new to this thread stuff so please help, and dont make fun of me. What is the different between a se, and gxe.

Thankz
Tyler

well the difference b/t se's and gxe's are, for your purposes, that the gxe has fewer engine problems (yay!) and that it's probably an automatic, which has more tranny problems (boo!). other difference are that the se's engine makes more horsepower, and se's have different wheels and a spoiler.

i don't have a gxe or an auto myself, but one thing i would look at closely is body trim and electrical stuff. the engine in these cars far outlasts the rest of the car. check the windows to make sure they work smoothly. test the speakers. if it's got a sunroof, make sure it doesn't leak. make sure the keyless entry pad works properly. see if the antenna goes up and down all the way (it won't unless it's been repaired).

hope it works out well for you

~check for rust
~listen for an major ticking noises (lifters)
~rpm jumps when idling
~when test driving, listen for any weird rapid clicking noises when making turns even if they are really faint (signs of a axle that will soon need replacing)
~clunk/thump sound when going over a bump (Cv Boot)
~see if heat works or else you'll have a very cold winter like i had... prolly needs a good flush
~teh fuel recall
~exhaust system if stock prolly wil need replacing soon

if anything else comes to mind i'll post again!

In certain snowy states, Nissan issued a recall. Mud and road salt was fling up into the fuel filler hose by the tires, and when left unchecked, corroded everything under there. I can't remember which states were affected by the recall, do a search for a Maxima fuel filler recall on google or something and find out.
