Quick important question: 214K miles, how long will it last?

looking to buy a cheap beater. found a 1991 max w/ 214k miles on it for real cheap. Is that kinda pushing it? need to last at least a year, normal daily driving. thanks for any input

Get a mechanic to look at it for you, a good Nissan mechanic should be able to point out any problems there might be with the car. If everything seems to be in good shape there isn't much reason the car shouldn't be able to give you another year without much problems.

This isn't to say you won't be putting money into the car. Parts wear out and at over 200k miles things could start falling apart. It all depends on how the car was run and maintained before you got it.

My car has over 170k miles on the original tranny and engine with almost zero major problems so far. Aside from squeeling brakes and a noise I can't hunt down in the engine department it runs like a champ. But that noise I can't figure out what it is might be the start of something expensive in a few miles... Anyway Good luck.
