weird noise

I changed my cv boots over the weekend on my 92 Maxima SE. Everything was cool, but when I drove around the block after getting it back together, I noticed a weird noise from the passenger wheel(the side I worked on). It's kinda like a wind noise at my wheel-if that makes any sense. It doesn't sound like brakes or rotors. Any suggestions of what it might be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

It's not a grinding noise. Maybe a light roaring noise. I was thinking that it could possibly be wheel bearings, but I didn't mess with those. Thanks for the reply.

it sounds like wheel bearings. does the noise get louder as u go faster?
if yes then did u torque the axle nut correctly? did u put the big washer back on behind the nut?

When you had the shaft out of the hub, I guess you didn't rotate the wheel bearing by hand to check it's condition and check the ball joint condition. Is it possible you could have bent the rotor backing plate causing it to rub on the rotor. Since you chnaged the boot that mean you had to seperate the axle bearing, did you push the axle bearing completely back on. Along with the noise being louder when going faster, does the noise go away when making right turns. Just giving you different possibilities.

You know what, the torque specs for the hub nut is 174-231 ft-lbs. My torque wrench that I have only goes to 150. Do you think that's what it could be? Thanks

Only one way to find out, and you don't even have to remove the wheel. How lucky

The noise only comes when I'm going straight, not when I turn. You think the wheel bearing didn't get pushed on tight enough by the hub nut?

when my wheel bearings were goin bad, they did that, it made no noise on left turn, alot on right turn, and some going straight

it may be your bearings making noise, even if they arnt bad
