Exhaust... 2.5" or 3"

I am trying to see if anyone has dared try a 3" upgrade on the VG engines??? I have a freind that did it with his VQ and he ended up with around 10 hoarse difference to most dyno tests of other cars with similar upgrades and a 2.5" pipe... I am kinda shakey though because of the smaller starting power... If anyone has tryed it or knows anyone that has(or if you just want to find out like me) let me know... Hell if enough people are interested I will have one built and post the resultes.

3" is overkill on an NA V6...

2.5" would be sufficient

i still have stock system except for the muffler. will i see some big gains if i do a custom 2.5" pipings? i know i'll see the most gain from a y-pipe. just wondering if 2.5" will open up any bottle necks.
