Ninty-two-se 09-27-2003 07:26 PM

92 SE 5spd, 153,333.3 miles as I drove it in the driveway, original clutch, non-clicking VTCs... have owned it since May 2003...

R.I.P.- 10.24.03 - Damn the muddy, dirt roads and deep ditches... The F***ers flip poor unsuspecting maximas!!

1990 SE 94K miles currently. Purchased new Jan 1990. Running perfect after exhaust stud replacment, O2 Sensor, and some fuel injector cleanup. NO VTCs or heat soak problems like the VE and I'm very grateful for it.

bru91 09-28-2003 04:10 PM

'91 gxe- 73k miles

leojs 09-28-2003 07:21 PM

218K on my 94 GXE SOHC. New tranny at 100K, 2nd tranny at 150K (don't think the 1st guy did it right, bastard...). Tranny's cost about $1,600 a crack, but I love my car ;-) Currently in the shop getting a manifold gasket replaced... broken bolts are causing it to possibly become labor intensive.

blppt 09-28-2003 07:41 PM

92 GXE. 129,742 as of this posting. Got the familiar VG30E (SOHC) ticking caused by broken exhaust stud problem on the rear manifold. Will be fixed by Sept. 30th, hopefully. Other than that, no problems in the engine bay.

92 SE

156,000 miles

Original Everything..Except

2 Timing belts
1 Water Pump

My ole lady drives the crap out of this car and it goes and goes - best car I've ever owned. Just bought a 94 se W 84K - and already I've spent about a grand on it replacing all of the injectors etc.. So I feel that the 92 must be superior...

Rodrv6 09-29-2003 05:22 PM

1992 GXE, 220,000 miles. Runs great, just got done changing the exhaust manifold studs last week.

uneek1 09-29-2003 05:28 PM

'93 GXE 266,300 i have gone through 2 trannys but still rolling strong.

91se, 239,785 as of today, third owner, bought in 2001, it was 164,xxx when I bought it. Little oil leaking after replaced transmission. Just changed the timing belt three months ago. One fuel injector had clogged, but problem solved after used 4 fuel injector/fuel system cleaner in 4 tanks of gas. Exhaust pipe at converter needs some work. 3000 miles each month, and still counting... :grinno:

You don't have VTC's on your 89 MAX

My 89 max SE VG30E has 205,XXX miles w/ factory timing belt. Doesn't burn or leak any oil except from the dented oil pan. LoL My stock 5-speed went out at 190,000 miles. There is a Maxima down the road from me for sale. It says its a 89 SE yet it has no white face gauges and it has the newer tail lights so I'm not quite sure bout that. They want $1500 and it has only 292,xxx miles. LOL Cant say how it runs tho.

Blinocac200sx 09-30-2003 08:41 PM

1991 230k. Had to replace the engine due to a broken crank snout (20 year Master tech said he'd never seen anything like it in a J30) , but got one with the about the same mileage as the car.

Aussie 10-01-2003 07:58 AM

Just clocked 117,000 miles on my 93SE, and shes still running strong!

cneary812 10-01-2003 08:21 AM

I have about 93k on my 92SE. My VTC's used to tick all the time but Mobil 1 solved that problem for me!

Grisadiche 10-01-2003 11:20 AM

crazy4maxima 10-01-2003 01:49 PM

Yikes! Do you mean original timing belt??? Thats the longest i have ever heard of one going without snapping. You must take great care of that car and/or have been extremely lucky.

When i changed mine at ~126,000 (it had been changed once before by one of the previous owners at an indeterminate mileage) the old one had a giant crack along the interior. The mechanic estimated i had about a month before it snapped and then, as everybody knows, bye-bye valves. Also, the cam seals were leaking and the water pump was just about ready to start leaking. ;-)

89maxSE 10-01-2003 03:15 PM

Well about 3 yrs ago I had my water pump replaced. The mechanic told me that I should prolly replace my timing belt as soon as possible. He said it looked like the original timing belt. He said he loosened it up a lil so there would be less pressure. No I am not easy on my car at all. Lol..I'm the exact opposite. And so were my 2 brothers b4 me :) We got the car in 96 and been tearin the **** out of it ever since. Been through like 5 clutches. :-D Honestly I have no clue how it still runs like it does. I've never seen a honda put through **** like my car w/ as many miles as it and still run as good as it does.

So when are you going to change your timing belt?

93

I have a 1993 Maxima SE (V6) with almost 243k and still in pretty decent running condition. I just bought it as a basic transportation car about 2 months ago, and the body is in really good shape still too. I looked up records and the previous owner told me over the phone that he took his maxima in for service every 30k miles, so he took pretty good care of it.........
