I have a 1994 Maxima that I purchased used. It did not have the original owners manual and I have noticed that when I have to order parts, there are 3 different models. It makes it difficult to know which part to get. Is there any way to know for sure which model I have? Is there somewhere that I can get an owners manual??

Check your VIN # to find out if you have an SE or a GXE.

If you have an SE the first 4 places will be:
JN1E

If you have a GXE they will be:
JN1H

Try e-bay.com for a cheap owners manual, or you can call Courtesy Nissan in Texas. There are several phone#'s on the page. Tell them you are a Maxima.org member and you should get a discount.

Good luck.

Couple of ways.

From the outside,

SE has a body-colored grille, foglights, black mirrors, and has a trunk mounted rear-spoiler. The alloy wheels have rectangular holes.

GXE has a chrome grille, body-colored mirrors, chrome window and taillight trim, and digital keyless entry. The alloy wheels have half-oval holes.

Inside,

SE has white-faced gauges with a speedo that reads to 145 MPH, and comes with either a 5-speed manual transmission a 4-speed automatic.

GXE has regular gauges with a speedo that reads to 125 MPH and comes only with a 4-speed automatic.

Under the hood.

SE has 3.0L 24-valve DOHC V6 engine with Variable Valve timing and produces 190 HP.

GXE has 3.0L 12-valve SOHC V6 engine that produces 160 HP.

Very slight detail I didn't know myself until recently....

GXE has bronze-tinted glass. SE has blue-tinted glass.
