HELP! My Stereo is on Crack!
#1
Ok, this eats. I was driving along on the freeway today listening to my new CD. I hit a little bump and next thing I know, I can hear the CD and the Radio at the same time. I could still change the radio station, turn the stereos power off, but nothing else. No getting the CD out, or hearing only one at a time.
THEN....5 minutes later, nothing worked! The radio and CDplayer are forever on. No buttons work. I have to drive around with the volume down. Arrrrg.
Am I screwed here? Any ideas?
If I'm screwed, does anyone have a stock BOSE cd/radio/tape deck they want to sell?
RIP Radio,
newmaxguy

Hope this helps
I have never heard of anything like that happening. Give the unit a litle bump on the nogin. If that sets it back into working order then you should have the unit serviced for cold solder joints. If not then I would consider getting an aftermarket unit over the stock unit.

Yeah, I tried some serious whacks on that bad boy. Nothing, but making the cd skip for a second.
I'm maximum bummed about this.
I would like to get another aftermarket stereo, but I'm strapped for cash...I was thinking that maybe I could get someones used stock one for cheaper.

Mine does weird things also, I heard the double din untits (Bose CD/Cass/AM/FM) units have problems, mine wont turn o at all at times, When its cold, sometimes I have to wait til the interior of the cars warms up, sometimes it turns off/on for split second here and there, and also the CD player skips more then it used to, and most the time I have to put the CD in several times before it will play it, It keeps ejecting the CD, then after about 5-10 tries takes it and plays, sometiems these problems dont happen for days, sometimes weeks, then other times Im about to kill the unit it drives me crazy, I always pray it wont go out on long trips, I went to Vegas last week and had no problems, but I would like to repair it, however I was quoted $250.00 to repalce the soders in the unit......any idea how much this should normally cost, I thought $250.00 was crazy!!! any input would be great!! Thanks Matt

Saved!
Your suggestions worked. I gave it some good whacks, and then some kind words to counteract the whacks (one of those, this will hurt me more than it hurts you kinda of deals) and then let it sit for a night. It seems to be back to normal.
Thanks for the help.
