tranny question

Lately I have to warm up my maxima before I drive it. If I don't the tranny takes forever to up-shift (from first to second and second to third). But once it up-shifts once it is smooth sailing from there. Is this a sign that my tranny is going?
Thanks ahead of time!!

Didin't think that that was a normal thing. Any ideas? For the time being I think that I will continue to warm up the engine. I heard that there is a thermostat on the tranny. Could that be the culprit?

after start up, the transmission doesn't allow you to shift into higher gears until the fluid is warmed up. if you search you will find that this is very common and NOT a problem. the search is there for a reason! if it happens all the time even when not cold though, than maube you should replace the temp sensor.

If I were to change the temp sensor should the problem go away all together? Sorry if I made you mad...didn't mean to. I guess its just another 3rd gen Maxima defect huh? I guess I should just be happy that it has not happen until now.
