Brake light won't go off
Hi all,
I have an '89 Maxima. It has all kinds of problems. But today when releasing the hand brake, the brake light won't go off. I tried several times but it just stays on. So i guess its whether an electrical glitch or the hand brake steel rope wasnt really fully released, even though I pushed the hand brake all the way down. If its the latter, theres a big chance I can burn my brakes and will need to service the car soon.
Anyone had a similar problem and/or any suggestions?
Thanks.

I'm pretty sure on 3rd gens. that the master cylinder fluid level switch is tied into the brake warning light. I had a similar problem on my 87, and it turned out the master cylinder had a leak and was low. I fiddled with the parking brake for a while before I looked at the wiring diagram and saw the other path to ground through the master cylinder.
Just a thought...
