no problem, about the legality....you'll need both for inspection....but i dont think you'll get pulled over for it, i never have. of course if you do get pulled over and the cop is a jerk you could prolly get a ticket for it if he wants to be a punk about it.

well mine covers all of the drivers side....but then again it rarely rains here....lets just not get into one of these huge arguments again.

...to each they're own...if i did (which i wouldn't) i would do it with the proper motor and wiper...
ahhhh yes rain-x probably the greatest thing ever invented, i coudl care less about wipers now i got sum cheesy carbon fiber look alikes that are rotting but i never use them even in the heaviest rain. and plus with rain-x it only helps to drive fast.

personally i really like the way it looks......and i know that many people really hate it but oh well. seems most of the people on here hate it, but there are some that like it. its basically just a styling thing to do....reminds me of kinda a rally car or something. and it doesnt really get in my way at all...i dont even really notice it. just another mod that i saw and liked so i did it, even though most consider it "ricey". just a matter of taste i guess.
I agree....of course
It was an easy mod and now having it on for a half a week and one rain shower I am pleased with the results. It may be ricey but I think it is different and everyone around Hanover College is noticing it. It also lightened the car a bit................ha
Yep, that would be me. The parts were taken from Mercedes Benz E-class. Had to use the motor assembly, had to buy a new wiper arm since the Mercedes wiper arm has problems hitting the hood of the max, had to buy a different wiper arm and drilled a hole at the bottom and bolted it on the mercedes revolving motor, used Mercedes variable intermittent wiring harness and control switch. This then had to be wired up to the stock maxima wiper switch because the Mercedes switch has so many other functions to it.. it's crazy. I spend like 3 hours one night wiring the wiper switch to the mercedes motor assembly. I thought I had it working but it didn't move. You have to run all new wiring because the stock Nissan wiper wires don't have enough wires to slice and it gets pretty bad with the wiring. I couldn't get this thing to work and I was about to give up. Then I took my max to my friend's Performance shop and he had my max for 2 1/2 days and got the wiper to finally work. The wiper moves extremely fast in one swipe. It literally throws the water off the windshield. The best part is that it covers most of the windshield.. more than the stock wiper can cover. Was it worth it? Umm... I did it because I'm crazy about my Maxima and I try new challenges all the time just to be different and enhance performance/appearence if possible. It cost me alot of money. I don't think I would do this mod again if I had the chance. If I had a hard time trying to get the Benz wiper to work then I'm sure many other people will have trouble as well.

Where did you get the Benz motor
And what wiper did you use, not the maxima wiper or the benz motor? Can it be done for under $200. If I do do it I will give the credit for pioneering it, and you be apart of my show board. I know how hard it is to come up with new mods and then have them copied.
Re: Where did you get the Benz motor
The whole process from start to finish ended up costing over $300.

risky
One thing to keep in mind is that a Plaintiff's attorney would just love to use this wiper against you if you were to get in an accident. They may not all get to the fact that you had one wiper, but I would (unless it was a Maxima ;-)). I can hear the deposition now
Isn't it true that you modified your windshield wipers from factory spec, down to a single wiper?
The car was designed with two wipers correct?
So by cutting one out, you are decreasing their effectivity in half correct?
Is it also true that your modification leaves a wiper hanging in the window?
Is it fair to say that your vision is impaired to some degree by it constantly being in the window?
Is it true that the wiper does not proceed down all of the way on either side of the windshield, leaving water spots that are unwiped?
And is it so true that this inhibited your view of my client's car?
Bam! Even if you say no, the evidence is there and will hurt. It will hit even harder if it is a rainy day. This is something to keep in mind. I suggest if you have to do this mod, do it right, where the thing won't be in the way and will be as efficient as double wipers.

Re: Adding
Places that install car alarms will most likely turn you down for the wiper install. This mod is too complicated for them. You need someone who has special training in mercedes vehicles to install this one-wiper. I got the motor from my friend who works for my local mercedes dealership. Also, I'm pretty sure you will not pass state inspection with this mod even though it works much better then the stock double wipers and covers more area at a faster pace. When the wiper is not in use it sits at the bottom of the windshield (just like the stock wipers) but towards the driver side. In reply to what Bryan91SE said, I highly doubt someone is going to have a court case against this type of one-wiper conversion since it is more effective than the double wipers.

Adding to what I said do you think a place that instals car alarms and remote starters could do it or does someone special have to do it?

Yes, I stated in my message that if done correctly by an expert, it probably wouldn't be an issue. (Like where the wiper is not in the way)
As for quick conversion, this most certainly would come up in legal proceedings. I'm in court 2 to 3 times a week, these things will come into play.

double wiper pic
Hey, this is a pretty hot topic so I'd thought I'd give my input for wiper conversions. If I were to do so, I wouldn't do a single wiper conversion even though it looks so cool...but I would do a double-wiper conversion so it'd look something like a Porsche. The thing is, you'd have to replace many more parts to do so. Here's a pic:
