Identify this electronic box

I'm replacing my busted power antenna unit w/ a fixed one and noticed there is a clear box with a circuit board inside attached to the bracket right next to the antenna motor. What the hell is this thing??? It's got an 8 wire harness that plugs into it. Just wanna be sure it's not something that's important.

I think that could be the power antenna timer. But not sure.

Yeah, I would think it would be related to the power antenna since it's on the same bracket. I know it's not ABS (car doens't have it). I was thinkin maybe it was a signal amplifier, but when you plug it in along with the new non-powered antenna, the signal doesn't improve. Just seems kinda weird that the wires don't go to the antenna motor from the clear box.

that is the antenna timer. you need it for the antenna to work. there is a constant power feed to the timer and the antenna motor. there is only one signal from the stereo deck to the timer, which is what will raise and lower the antenna when activated. incase anyone cares, its the Green/yellow wire.
