Hi All,
Of course the FSM calls for Nissanmatic "D" or Dexron IIe.
It's about time to do a drain and fill. (~135K miles)
Some people say that you should use ONLY real Nissan ATF in these trannys. Specs for real Nissan ATF are impossable to get to compare it to other fluids.
I would probably like to stay with a NON Senthetic ATF. Hopefully just off the shelf at Walmart or Meijer.

Sooooo..........

What brand have you had good results with?

Pennzoil ATF (Dexron III) OK?
How about Mobil Multipurpose ATF ? Great price at Costco right now.

Penzoil will be fine. When I did my first flushs I used Quaker state. Then after doing my VB upgrade I used full syn Royal Purple ATF.

I reccomend you change it a couple times 2x or 3x. Each time you drain the fluid you'll only get half out. Do it one weekend then wait until another weekend to do it again. That'll give the fresh fluid some time to dissolve some of the varnish.

 

In my GXE, I use any of the major manufactures Dexron III. The amount will depend on the auto tranny you have (whether the drain plug is on the side or on the bottom). Mine is the one with the side drain plug; therefore, I only get about 2.5 to 3 quarts out when I drain mine. As a result, I change mine about once every 2 to 3 months. It is kind of like oil: you can never change it too often.

 

I'm an Amsoil fan, but it sure costs alot. When I'm not using Amsoil im using valvoline or castrol.
