never let your friend drive your car

Hey guys I need an opinion here. I let my friend drive my car home from a camping trip and he wrecked it on a dirt road. There is no damage to the body but we hit a rock about the size of my engine. When we stoped, the rock was sitting under my oil pan. We jacked my car up and there is no damage to the oil pan. Now my car will not idle on its own and there is a really loud sound coming out my cold air intake. It has lost a lot of power it feels like it not running on all cylinders. This guy has been sleeping on my couch, doesn't have a job, has a kid, has a warrent, and now he wrecked my car. I finally had enough with him so I kicked him out of my house, and now I am left with dealing with my car myself. I haven't had the money to get it checked out or the time to look at it myself yet. To me it seems like there could be a kink in one of the exaust pipes somewhere that is causing the noise to come back out my intake. Any sugestions would help. Thanks, Aaron

If the oil pan is dented, it could be restricting the oil pickup from getting oil to the engine. I don't see how a rock the size of an engine could 1) get under the car and 2) NOT do any damage.

That is a good assumption. Well the rock was probally about the size of the block and heads and I don't know how it didn't bust the oil pan. I do know that the rock was about two hundred pounds. When he lost control of the vehicle the car slid off to the side of the road where we went up an embankment about a foot high, which is why we probally fell onto the rock rather than crashing into it.

just as a comment, this guy seems to have some issues in his life, and as nice as it was for you to help him out, I think he just needs to put his head down and get his **** together.
driving off road is "rarely" conductive to work/life/family/issues getting dealt with so imho you should've told him to get to work on his **** instead of kickin' it w/you.
there is always a line between helping someone and being conductive to a person's entropy, and unfortunately, most of the time you aren't actually "helping" your friend by letting him skirt out of dealing w/his issues.
'scuz my rant... i know more than one person who also fits this guys' description, and while i wish them the best and offer advice whenever asked.... what they want isn't help, it's a parent to take care of THEM.
to which i say
