Custom front speaker brackets. New ideas?

Ok, I've seen the MDF ones people have made and the one on Craig Brace's page, but does anyone have any ideas or has made something that is easy to do without using a jigsaw? I really don't want to buy one and don't know anyone who has one. I want to install 6.5 components. I've looked at MDF, particle board, etc, but none seem to be something that is easy to do by hand.

Any ideas?

Buy the proper tools. it'll save you a ton of aggravation and time.

I ended up buying a jigsaw for pretty cheap, figured I'd find some use for it in the future anyway. The MDF/jigsaw speaker bracket was actually quite easy to make, and if it wasn't for a blown fuse I didn't realize was blown, I may have finished this thing in a decent amount of time (I almost was going to return the new Alpine stereo I bought - good thing for voltmeters..)

I second that. I made mine out of 3/4" pressure treated wood and I still wish I had used MDF and done it right the first time.
