It can work with some body mods, look acouple of threads down at MAX O/D turbo max, he did it! And I have seen a couple of other Max's do it to. But it is not a direct fit if that what you are asking. And just for the future, any light can fit on your car with enough Time, Money, and a good shop! Look at Shavedmax!!

yah thats true, but i'd rather not mess up with body moldings and stuff. Was looking for a direct fit. Best to keep it simple. are those wrx lights on shaved's car?

those are from the R34 25GT series 4dr sedan. not GTR or GTS. the white backup lights at bottom give those away.

2dr coupes came with red lights only.

one would need to heavily destroy and then resculpt the rear end of the maxima to accomodate those. it would be a major job. big time. but may look nice.

i recommend the R32 4dr sedan tails. those are smaller, look nearly the same as the 3rd gen shapes, and are of correct 'era' matching and would not require *as much* sculpting. but would still be a major job.

Nah, fall back bonzelite, the R33 Skyline are the most similar to our shape!! The 1st post of NismoDrew is that of the R32, and clearly those are not even close to our light, the second post is of the R34, those are not to close to our fit either. But the R33, those are very similar. So similar, most thought it might be a direct fit, but it isn't. So the R33 is the closest, trust! This is what happens when you play Gran Turismo 3 all day!!! LOL

drrrive,

i see why you feel this way but give this a listen: ok. i actually have a pair of R33 4dr and R32 4dr tail lights (not mounted) for the very reason this thread exists - i wanted to try out styles from the coveted skyline. and i opted for the 4dr sedan tails. why? because the sedan tails of the R32 4dr are a different shape than the coupe. the R32 GTR tails, for example, have rounded off assemblies. but the sedan tails are squared-off, just like on the 3rd gen. the only way you will believe me is if i post pics. so i gotta do that. the R33 tail light assemblies are way friggin big. the R32s are nearly the same size as the maxima's, although they are bigger, too. but the shape AND SIZE is almost the same.

you gotta believe me. i will make it a mission now to get photos of these to prove my point.

i have seen R33 tails successfully mounted on the 3rd gen, btw. and it looked ok. but that is not my point here. my rub is that the R32 SEDAN FOUR DOOR tails are the most similar in size and shape to the 3rd gen than any other skyline setup. not the 2 door. the 4dr and 2dr tails are NOT the same. when you actually see the sizes and shapes, held up to the back of my car, you will see what i mean.

the reason why i bought the R33 tails in the first place, before the R32s, was because i thought the same way that you did! but they are wayyyy too fat for my liking and waaaayy too big. the sedan R32s are much more discreet and "sleeper."

If you say so my friend, but I MUST see pics!!! You are more then likely right, but I want to seee it, I my actually want to try it. I agree that the R33 light are a little BULKY!! But the shape of that light and our is almost the same, so if the 4dr R32 light is almost the same shape, just a little smaller... Thas Whas up!!
