I would recommend to paint with VHT, I did it and happy, you can chose how dark you want...

The thing is my car has chrome wheels too and it's black so I don't know which way to to proceed should I still black out the lights?

VHT is a popular choice, or choose film so that you can strip it right off when the time comes you don't like it anymore.

I heard vht is really hard to remove, I used rustoleum tint for lights. It comes off pretty easy and love the way it looks.

Blacking out your tail lights is illegal, and a great way to attract unwanted attention....

Also a great way to attract a rear end collision.

You people make me laugh, a rear end collision, really? They are black till they light up and are actually made for the purpose of tail light tinting.................so it is perfectly visible when using the brake.

It blocks the reflectors that are federally mandated on the rear of all cars.
It is a reason for cops to pull you over. Take the risk or not, up to you, but just know that it is there.

I do have to agree with Maximadrvr to a certain point. You can dramatically reduce the light output if you tint too much. Thats why i did mine like this
