With stock tranny, you may be looking at a rebuild sometime soon. On my '94GXE, the tranny went out around >145k. To me and IMHO, $3600 seems to be a little high for someone who knows about Maxima and its problematic tranny. However, to the an ignorant buyer, the price may seem reaonable. If the tranny was already replaced, then that would be a different story since you would not be possibly looking in the face of a $1800 Trannysaurus (daym, another bad joke).

As you describe it, I think $2800 to $3000 would be a better deal, but I may be off the mark in this case. Kelly's Blue Book trade-in value (from MSN Autos) for a '94GXE w/leather, moonroof, ABS, and BOSE goes for $3000. Of course this changes if your options are different.

What happened to the first car you were looking at? I would offer him up to $2800 maybe. NO more though.

So, those 409k were miles? Wow. Nonetheless, that is real testiment to the longevity of VG engines. Daym, that timing belt had to be replaced 4 or 5 times! Unbelievable. Now, if there was ever anyone who got his or her money out of a car, it was this person.
