I recently installed some Bosch Platinum plugs in my 92 SE auto. They seem to work ok, until the car got warmed up good, then it started to stumble on acceleration. When at a stop, the rpm dips eratically. So I took those back and got some Denso plugs and my car ran has been running fine for a month. Decided to try some OEM NGK Platinums in for kicks. Still the same problem.
U guys have any thoughts.

I tried some Bosch Platinum +4s in my 93 SE a while back and they missed constantly, the VE engines call for NGK platinum plugs and thats what you should probably run in it. I switched out the Boschs' for NGKs (22401-1P1S5VW at your dealer) and haven't had any problems.

I've used Bosch Platinum for the last 150K or so. At first the car ran awful. BTW, mine is a 89, Manual tran. It took about 100 miles before it really ran well. Don't forget to change the sparkplug wires while your at it. Expensive but it can save a lot of problems. I've been impressed with the gap is correct out of the box. I can't exactly remember, but I beleive the gap is different than regular plugs.
I've never have changed the O2 sensor but I beleive it really needs it. Can't reach it without a lift.

in a bunch of studies done, it's been proven that the +4 and splitfires really don't do that much. also i've heard our max calls for a special plug. I run nissan plugs in my max. straight from the dealer. the tip is sorta dome or pointed. it's hard to describe.

rough runnin 90
i just replaced the plugs cap rotor and wires on my 90 max ans now it runs like total garbage,it runs rough and it makes a constant ticking noise {like a sticky lifter only much, much louder} until i disconnect the #3 injector, it then starts running very rough and still make the ticking noise only less constant. any thought are appreciated

The slightly oddball (dome with a point) shape is just to increase the ammount of area for the spark.

NGK's
I got those NGK platinum plugs in my 93 se, and I have the same problem in which the rpm's drop to 0.5..and when the car is cold the rpm's stay around 1000 but once in warms up the engine starts shaking and when the rpm's drop..now the question is..Which plugs are the best for our maxes? the ones from the dealer?..they would prob cost a load anyways..

Stock plugs-
There are 3 NGK plugs for the VE engine that are available at your dealer, the part numbers are as follows:
22401-1P1S4VW - colder sparkplug
22401-1P1S5VW - standard plug
22401-1P1S6VW - hotter sparkplug
I recommend calling your local dealer and seeing what they stock, my dealer recommended either the 4s or the 5s for my car. I use the 22401-1P1S5VW model and have never had a problem with them.
