Lowering the rear only

What are the pro's and con's of this undertaking? I'm planning on having the eibachs installed along with konis, FSTB, and ADDCO RSB.

I don't want to lower the front because it happened a couple times that when I went fast over little hills/potholes, the car scratched the ground in the front.

It's not gonna be a drag. I like to go fast in small/unfrequented streets since there's a smaller chance of getting clocked and it's much more challenging than a nice straight road. The disadvantage is that these roads are often bad and I don't wanna hit the ground with the front too many times.

1) I've never hit the ground on 'bad' roads in 3 years of driving on eibachs. If your hitting the ground, you ARE driving TOO FAST for the road to support. My car is lowered with eibach and has the ST sway kit on it. The front sway bar hangs almost an inch lower than the stock one. Point is, at that spot my car is 2.5 inches lower than stock. Bad roads/construction still isn't a problem - but I'm not driving like a crazy.

2)Having a lowered rear will throw off the handling balance of the car. Most likely it will not improve the handling - it will just make it worse.

also, the front springs do most of the cornering work IIRC.

Thanks. However I'm having the visual impression that the stock suspension is not "even", i.e. the front is sitting lower than the back. I thought that lowering the rear would level the suspension out, reduce the center of gravity, and hence improve the handling.

On a side note, I sometimes do drive like crazy.

I agree - the back looks lower even if the ride height is correct because the rear fender lip is closer to the ground. If anything, I'd lower the front and leave the back alone.

Thanks for the perspective, toda. That makes me reconsider any lowering due to my driving style. I may go with just strut and sway bars.
