Digital Dash FIXED
#1
Well, I fixed my digital display. Local Nissan dealer wanted $1000 for the brain, almost $400 labor. Kaleb had a great price of $650 for the part but the brain wasn't detaching to easily.
Took me less than 1 hour to remove whole cluster with brain attached. Mailed to a vendor who rebuilt it for $325 and had it back to me in less than a week total time shipping both ways. Thirty minutes to put all back together. Works GREAT!!!!! Warrantied for a year.
Haven't had a guages/speedomter for quite some time so yea, I'm excited.

Digital Dash Repair Information
Sorry, don't have a digital camera, I'll see if I can get a friend with one though.
Here's the link I found:
http://www.ecm-ecu-online.com/ecm-ecu_facts.html
for the place that repaired it. I spoke with Doug 1(800)557-8674. The actual name of the company is Sunrise Foreign Auto Dismantling in Rancho Cordova, California. He'll fax you a credit card approval sheet which you'll need to fax back. Once approved (only minutes) he'll give you the purchase order number and the location to ship it to where it will be rebuilt.
I sent mine out on a Wed, FEDEX 2 day. Received back the following Wed by UPS. I was a little leary sending the whole unit, Nissan quoted the brain at $1000, the digital cluster it attaches to at $2200, that's $3200 to a place I was unfamiliar with so I insured for the full price. But everything worked out great! Kaleb can get you a great price on the brain if you want it new, the brain just didn't want to come off easy and I was afraid I'd break something. There were other places that would rebuild it, only they wanted a lot MORE.
It was VERY EASY to take out and reinstall. All you'll need is a phillips head screwdriver, maybe a needle nose plier if you can't squeeze the plug connections all the way (they were a little ruff, been on there a long time). Remember to tilt your steering wheel all the way towards you to start, it'll make things easier. I did mine last week, if I remember there are four plug ins on the back of the unit. Once again, the novice mechanic can remove it and replace it, it's that easy. I had it apart for a month before I decided to go ahead and do it, just as easy to put back together.
Hopes this helps everyone, I know I've seen this topic in the past. Tell Doug that Jim D from Las Vegas sent ya and I'm happy with the work.
