I don't even no where to begin

I bought a 92 se 5 speed yesterday and I get it home and the problems start. Never encountered electrical problems with a max so maybe someone can help me out. First the speedometer is not working. The throw out bearing is rattling but I wonder if the pinion gear from the speedo fell into the tranny and is making the noise. Any suggestions? Second my power door locks are not working and when I hit the button I hear a click in the dash but nothing happens. and the most annoying problem. I have to unhook the battery to get the right front turn light to go out. It stays lit all the time. Anyone know WTF that is about? Thanks guys and it's good to be back in the MAX. Would the little box, Whatever it's called in the dash that controls all of the little electrical problems be the culprit. Someone please help.

What can you expect from a $1500 white/black leather SE 5 speed?
Problems!

door lock timer for the locks. email me and I'll fix it for $30.

speed sensor to fix the speedo. like $60 or so.

completely unrelated to the bearing noise. that's either a throwout bearing or your input shaft bearings are bad. probably both, as it's a common problem. throwout bearing, $35. tranny rebuild, $800. labor for each is a few hundred to pull the tranny in either case.

corner light= ????

speedo and tranny is something hard to miss on the test drive, but the locks and the light happened all of a sudden. It wasn't like that on the test drive. Throw out bearing is what I thought the cause of the raddle was. Makes noise when you let the clutch out so hopefully it's just the trow out bearing. Not the whole tranny. Do the corner lamps and the door locks run through the same control box? This car is definately a project but it should come along nicely. You had said bring the car to you and you'll fix the locks...... Where are you locaed? Let me know.

I'm in Houston.. bit of a drive from you. I'll be in Branson next weekend, but that's still several hours away.

actually, all I need is the door lock timer. 99% of the time, it's the problem. you'll hear it clicking, but the connections inside are bad. I repair them and replace a few parts inside for more reliability, then ship it back out. right now, I can get it turned around and back out in a day because I'm not working..

the lights have nothing to do with it. I dunno what the problem is with that guy, but I'd say probably your blinker is messed up. back in the day, there was a blinker that plugged into the wiring harness next to the fuse box under the dash. they had a tendency to fail after several years, so you got to replace them. that may or may not be your problem, as I don't veen know if a max still has the old school blinkers. I'm pretty sure it does though. (it's what makes the tick tick tick noise when your blinkers are on).

check that out and see what happens.

lol, you got a cheap one just like I did!
I paid $1400 for my white 92 with black leather 5spd SE, but I had to buy a new tranny, I also bought a new flywheel (fidanza, buy them from Matt93SE) and an Exedy Clutch. I also noticed that there was some kind of fire or something inside the car, so I bought a replacement Dash, and had some other interior parts from my old 1993 SE.

The only difference is you got a test drive, Mine had a bell housing full of gear oil (did not know at the time).

good luck with it, and getting all the kinks worked out, once you do it will be like brand new.

thanks for the input guys, I'll probably start the rebuild soon. Does anyone know who manufactures pistons in either high rpm/compression or high boost/low compression for the ve? I guess if I'm gonna tear her apart I might as well go all out. oh how the girlfriend is gonna love me tearing down another car.
