This may not seem much and I don't do it all the time, but i was going home for the weekend and pulled up to a 96, 97, 98??? Blazer. I acted cool and at the light i took off. He noticed what i was doing (he being a middle aged white male) was quick to jump on the chance to race. It was about 2pm and on highway 31, moderate traffic. I had a good start and pulled away, he caught up and by 3 (i have an auto..hehe) I stared to pull away and then I hit 4th and it was close i had maybe a half a car on him. I looked down and was doing 105mph, the fastest i have had max b4 was 100 even. This excited me and as we came up to the next light about a mile down the road he asked me what I had do to my car? I looked at him and said that it was stock and he got a look of shock and rolled his window up. I was and am so proud of my baby.

I know that with 160,000 miles +, I should not be racing or the face that i was going 105 in a 50 but it was fun as hell!

Those motors last forever....

The motors they put in these Maximas are very powerful and R pretty strong. If your cars is well serviced...and I know that your car would be seeing you R like me and love your Max, your engine would be fine after that race. I have heard some good stories on this forum about about how some people have given there Maxima's hell, even if they R stock. How did tranny hold up??? Get a tranny cooler if you want to keep it well looked after. Mine loves it. Is your's a VG30E? If it is it will be fine, they love a good flogging.. Nice car man.

You have a VG30E.....

Hi again your car has the VG30E motor which I think is one of the best motors Nissan ever made. It has heaps of power and is very reliable. As for a tranny cooler you can pick one up from an auto store or from a transmission machanic, as for the price I have no idea how much as Im from Australia and not sure how much they go for in the united states. Mine cost $180 installed and has warranty. But that is how much it costs here in Australia so in the states it could be more or less. If you do it yourself it will be cheaper. I payed a machanic to do mine.
