first do it when car is cool.open the radiator cap then look at the bottom of radiator look 4 drain plug screwit out let fluid out.run a hose through radiator put plug back in refill with antifreze put radaitor cap on.and thats it. p.s you could get prestone rad flush to help get all that gunky stuff thats in rad read the directions and dont forget the reservoir drain that out as well refill with anti freze

I just did mine and was surprised...

I was repairing a leaking hose, and drained the fluid as described. But the engine block is still containing a fair amt of Old AntiFreeze(how much do u really love your beast?). There are drain plugs (left and right bottoms of 89 block) plus an air bleed off bolt on the top of the block (upper right hand corner of the block).
Tried to open the drain plugs on block(needed to jack it up and get underneath) but opted for a lower tech solution. I removed the bleed off bolt on top and flushed the system by holding the running hose in the radiators top opening. Then like a whale spout, the remaining anti freeze came out, and i ran hose till it was flushing clear water(U might want to cover engine with a sheet of plastic film as sort of a rain coat.)
Now I was ready to fill-her-up, I used approx 1 gallon Anti Freeze concentrate, not the blend. Why concentrate, not because I didn't have distilled water as was recommended(how much do u really love your beast?). I used it because I was not 100% sure how much the system held... and filled the balance with water.
Once your done filling, run the engine till its hot enough to open the thermostat(now anti freeze is flowing into radiator). You will need to top off with more water. As a last step, just loosen the bleed bolt and let the air escape from the top interior cavity of the block. It sounds like alot but it was painless and fun, took about 30 minutes, and I enjoyed watching the people walk by and oogle the spouting water
