I Need Help Swapping Engine!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello folks!!! A newbie question here. I have a auto 92 GXE and I was wondering if the VE30de from the SE will be a direct bolt on? Will I need to custom fabricate any component in the engine bay and will the tranny be the same between GXE and SE? I am seriously thinking about embarking on this swap so any help or suggestion from you pro will be greatly appreciated. I look forward to any response and help. Thanks.

Eric

P.S. Yes, I have use the search feature already but nothing came up regarding this topic. If it had been discussed already, please provide a link. Again, thanks.

it has been asked many times but no it will not be as easy as you are looking for, you will have to rewire and try to match up wires because they will be different, if youve got the money you could do it but for that much I would just buy a VE

Thanks for the reply. So I guess it won't be a bolt on as I had thought, huh. The only reason I'm not buying a SE is because I like the features in my GXE. Do you think it would be too hard to rewire everything then? One last question then. Does anyone here in the .org know where I can get recondition SE engine? Thanks.

Eric

But you can't add the door pad. That is what I love about me GXE. I can go to the gym or run, leave the keys hidden inside, come back and use the code to open the door.

Just the fact alone that I don't need a key or FOB means that I have nothing to lose. Every 3 to 6 months, I rotate my code using something that I will never forget. Now, if the SE had that feature, I almost would dump my GXE.

I wouldn't be that trusting to leave the keys in the car, if the battery dies....you're locked out!

or do like some others have done and hide a button to unlock the doors. all you have to do is tap into the unlock door button and connect it to ground to make the doors unlock.

True, but I keep tabs on battery health also. The time frame I am talking about is like an hour or two. Also, I can lock the doors on a cold day and leave the car running while I go into 7-11 to get my coffee. Same thing for really hot days; leave car running while getting a cool drink.

Hey, not bad. I will have to look into some discrete locations in my SE.

My GXE came with the electro digital display and I really like that beside the keyless key pad. Well, I'm gonna go ahead and try to do it anyway so good luck to me.

good luck...YOu'll NEED it...I just did an engine swap (VQ) between a 97 and a 95 max and the engines are the same but they added sensors to the 97...you'll basically have to find a donor se to make it all work properly...put them side by side and go to town!

Wouldn't it be easier to swap over the stuff from the gxe to the SE as the SE would probably require much more not to mention physically harder work. Personally I prefer wiring over motor swapping in most cases.

If you want to do the swap I know a place where you can get the VE engine pretty cheap and with low miles. I replaced my VE engine with one of theirs and it was a JDM with only 24,000 miles. I know a couple of other people who also got motors from them and are satisfied with their investment

STracer, that would be awsome. Please email me their information and if they have a website, can you also provide that too. Many thanks and appreciation. Thank you.
