92 GXE injectors - can't be reman'd?

Bob from A1 injectors (www.a-1injectors.com) said the injectors of a 92 GXE were impossible to rebuild properly because of their design -- they tend to leak. In his opinion nobody should sell them reman'd because of the high failure rate. Has anybody else heard of this or had any experiences with rebuilt injectors specifically for a 92 GXE?

I've been handwringing about this for a couple weeks on the forum, but money's tight right now and I just want as much input as possible.

Thanks to everyone who's commented about this.

John

Out of 100 remans 95 were defective from every supplier we found. DO YOU REALLY LIKE THOSE ODDS?

I didn't think so. Nissan had a recall on those injectors earlier on their life. But All nissan injectors tend to leak. These ones in particular tend to do so with alarming frequency.

Another good reason to have a VE injectors don't leak as often and can be rebuilt (thank goodness)

Just my rant

Wait a minute.....that seems way to high..95% were bad? How is that possible? They would not be able to be in business with that kind of defect rate, and yet they are still selling them. Also, does that mean that the one I got the other day from discount auto is just one of the 5% that's good? Sorry, but I'm not that lucky. Not trying to be argumentative here, but I just find that hard to believe. I know that in alot of cases, reman parts are crap, and injectors are a pretty sensitive part, but ?????

this particular injector 89-92 VG30E is the only one with a rate that high but nissan overall has the highest defect rate for reman injectors.
Yes it does mean that you got VERY lucky if your carfalls into the VG category. Just my experience from selling parts.
BTW most injectors reman just fine

I hear you...I have a 92 Stanza that uses injectors notorious for leaking- I have had to replace 2 or 3 in the last year...and those would gush gas.. Nice design, Nissan..

Well, it looks like I should buy new injectors. At least the A-1 guy convinced me to install these myself, which should save some money. I can get them from him for $85 each. I just have to decide whether to replace the one that's gone bad or all six. My car has 130K.

thanks for the replies,

John

The only thing I can say, is that the same stuff has to come off to replace 1 as it does to replace all 6. If you have the funds, I would suggest doing all 6. Now, having said that, I just replaced the 1 bad one the other day, so I am probably destined to replace a few more shortly. Not a huge deal either way, but it does take some time to get everything off to get to them.
